Chen Long defeated worlds number two in a dense match

The fifth seeded Chen Long won his match against Chou Tien Chen. Next step for him will be the home soil Dane Viktor Axelsen in the semifinal.   

 

Chen Long won a tight match when he played against the world’s number two. Chou Tien Chen had never beated the Chinese superstar but had the chance at the quarterfinals at DANISA DENMARK OPEN presented by VICTOR. He didn’t use the opportunity and Chen Long could greet the audience after another victory 21-17, 21-17.

Long had fresher legs than Chou when the final points had to be divided. And of course, it was a delighted Chinese player after the game.

– I am very happy that I am through to the semifinals, Chen long said.

With a great triumph the long Chinese men’s single could start preparing for Viktor Axelsen.

– The audience and fans will have a good match tomorrow. Last time we played (in Odense) was in 2015. Therefore, we will try our best in the game tomorrow. Let’s expect that, Chen Long said after the last point was ended.

As of the rest of the matches played on court one today the match between the Chinese and Chinese Taipei wasn’t an exception. The players split points until the point 9-8. From that point Chou Tien Chen took the lead. Even though, Chen Long fought his way back and won the point 21-17.

Starting the second game with a tight and intense play. Chou Tien Chen manage to take the lead at the break 11-8. It followed as every point turned out differently. He could smile and greet the audience with a win 21-17, 21-17. Seven times previous the players have met but it goes along way back till their last match. That game occurred back in May 2018.

Viktor Axelsen and Chen Long match is the very last match on court one Saturday.
