Chinese super power sends home Thai World Championship runner-up and his new partner

The opening game at DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2019 presented by VICTOR was a pure top-class encounter between two mixeddouble sides from the world top. The top seeded Chinese Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong proved their class and secured a confident win in two games against Puavaranukroh Dechapol/Supajirakul Puttita.

Tuesday’s first game at court one turned out to be a short affair for the spectators who, despite the short match time, witnessed some high-quality badminton. Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong had just faced and beaten Dechapol and his former partner Sapsiree at the Korea Open final but now Puttita had substituted Sapsiree meaning the couple being together again as they were until early 2018. This was still too big a deal for the World Champion runner up Dechapol and new partner Puttita who lost 10-21, 12-21.

– We have faced Dechapol several times now, but in this new constellation with Puttita it was different. We think they played a fine game, but we took advantage of their difficulties, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong said after the win.

We saw two well prepared sides who took place on court one from the early morning, but the Chinese couple turned out to be the best prepared. Points were quickly added to their account which gave them an early 8-2 lead. Huang Yaqiong showed great anticipation on the front court while Zheng Siwei was controlling the back which led them to a confident 11-4 score at break.

If it was a matter of finding their way back into their relationship again is hard to say, but Dechapol/Puttita never really got their feet to the ground. With the Chinese being very cynical the first game ended 21-10 and the couple from Thailand had a short break to figure out how to deal with the World Champions.

It seemed like the break had done the new Thai team good as they short into the second game was back at it being down only 4-5. The explanation behind this score could be that Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong had to adapt to the new half as they had some trouble keeping the shuttle inside the lines. Even though they faced some problems here their quality was indisputable and therefore they could go to break leading 11-6.

With especially Zheng Siwei being all over the court and showing off his great technique the spectators would soon realize that it would be another short game. Last year’s DANISA DENMARK OPEN presented by VICTOR champions from China kept their coolness and ended the game with a secure 21-12 result with a total game time on 23 minutes.

– From now on we look forward in this tournament. We will take it step by step and see where it takes us, the couple declared on their expectations for the Danish Super 750-tournament.
