Prelude: A first day of fabulous battles awaits in Odense

Finally, DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2019 presented by VICTOR kicks off and what a kicking day it will be. Several severely exciting showdowns are on the program for the very first day. Have a look at some of them in today’s prelude.

09.00: Mighty mixeddouble from the morning – a 75 % repetition of the 2019 World Championships final

In the first match on Court 1 Tuesday, the spectators have the pleasure of none less than world number one mixeddouble and two times defending world champions, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong. The Chinese constellation, that also arrives in Odense as the defending champions of DANISA DENMARK OPEN presented by VICTOR, is up against the same male player as in the 2019 World Championships final, Dechapol Puavaranukroh from Thailand. Unlike the WC-final, Puavaranukroh is now playing with a new partner, Puttita Supajirakul, who is world ranked 19 in women’s doubles.

About 1-2 PM: World Championships bronze medalist up against Chinese living legend

Not long after lunch it’s time for some grandiose men’s singles when the living legend Lin Dan goes up against the 2019 World Championships stunner, Sai Praneeth B., who in august landed a bronze medal in Basel.


About 4 PM: Olympics women’s singles champion up against three set challenger

Taking the title at China Open less than a month ago, Carolina Marin has indeed proved to come back strong after her prolonged injury. Tuesday afternoon, the former world champion and defending Olympic champion is facing Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong, who yet hasn’t managed to overcome the Spanish star but, however, has managed to put pressure on her. In the two combatants last two showdowns, they went out in three sets. Will we see yet another three of them today? We’ll find out soon enough.

About 6-7 PM: World class men’s singles with Danish return game

Lately, the challenge has been tough for Jan Ø. Jørgensen in his recent matches against world’s number six, Jonathan Christie. In both Japan Open and the World Championships this summer, it was the Indonesian who put and end to the Dane’s further chances. Tuesday evening, it shall be interesting to see if Jørgensen can change the statistics.


About 7-8 PM: Fast-growing Danish men’s doubles constellation meets highly ranked Chinese

Mathias Boe/Mads Conrad-Petersen have had a tremendous spring and summer. Two out of two times the Danes have managed to defeat Chinese Cheng Kai Han/Hao Dong Zhou, who are ranked as world’s number seven. Tuesday night the two constellations go up against each other once more, and it shall be interesting to see if the Danes have fully taken charge of their opponent’s or whether Han/Zhou can turn it around in Odense.
