Quarter-final prelude: Danish duel and great matches awaits

The quarter-finals at DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2019 presented by VICTOR offers a lot of interesting matches. With a spot in the semi-finals at stake there is no longer room for mistakes, but which matches can you look forward to? We take a look at some of the most interesting quarter-finals.


In men’s singles the audience will get treated with badminton from the highest level when Danes Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen battle for a spot in the next round. The two country men have met each other four times with two victories each as a result.

The last Dane in the tournament, Rasmus Gemke, face a difficult task when he meets the defending Denmark Open-winner and world’s number one, Kento Momota.

Chen Long have also qualified for the quarter finals where he will meet Chou Tien Chen. The player from Chinese Taipei have recently won both Thailand Open and Chinese Taipei Open but despite seven previous meetings he has never defeated Chen Long.

In women’s singles Olympic champion, Carolina Marin, face an interesting task when she meets 17-year-old An Se Young who in convincing style defeated World champion Pusarla V. Sindhu. The young Korean will once again go into the match as an underdog and it will be interesting to see if she can deliver another surprise.

Another mentionable quarter-final is the men’s double between Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan and Yuta Watanebe/Hiroyuki Endo. The Indonesian favorites have won the last three matches between the pairs but we will probably see a double with great play from both sides.
