After a close match the second seeded Chinese mixed double Wang Yi Lyu/Huang Dongping defeated Hafiz Faizal/Gloria Widjaja in the two pairs meeting at DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2019 presented by Victor.

For the third time in under a year Faizal/Widjaja and Wang/Huang met each other and once again it ended with a Chinese victory at 21-19, 16-21, 21-17.

Wang/Huang arrived at the match with fresh legs, because of an injury to the pair they should have met yesterday, while Faizal/Widjaja had to work hard to win their first round match.

However, the Indonesian double got off to a great start while Wang/Huang made some unforced errors and the world’s number nine, Faizal/Widjaja were suddenly leading 11-9. Despite the good start Faizal/Widjaja didn’t manage to shake the Chinese favorites who won the set 21-19.

The second set started as the previous with a terrific start from the Indonesian couple. Especially Faizal delivered some amazing smashes which led to a surprising big lead. Halfway into the second set Wang/Huang were trailing 6-11.

The fresh legs didn’t seem to help Wang/Huang much while Faizal/Widjaja continued with great play and extended their lead to 18-10. The surprising development in the match clearly frustrated the Chinese mixed double who had big problems dealing with the Indonesians. Deservedly, the second set ended with an Indonesian win 21-16 in a set where Wang/Huang did not have the lead once.
