First round of the Super 1000-tournament VICTOR DENMARK OPEN 2021 offers a repetition of last year’s men’s singles final.

The two childhood friends Anders Antonsen and Rasmus Gemke is already facing each other that early in the tournament. Last year the two players played three physical tough games, before Anders Antonsen had won.

Viktor Axelsen will also be tested from the beginning of the tournament. He is facing Chinese Shi Yuqi, who previously in his career has won All England. However, the second seeded Dane leads 5-1 in the head-to-head statistics.

Antonsen and Axelsen are in different halves of the draw, which means they can’t meet before a possible final. Antonsen is in the same half as the world’s number one, Kento Momota, who can be the opponent in the semifinal.

It doesn’t look much better for the women’s singles. Admittedly Mia Blichfeldt in the first round faces the unseeded Lianne Tan, but in a possibly second round the eight seeded Michelle Li can be the opponent. Last year, she was the one who knocked out Blichfeldt from the tournament.

Tough opposition already awaits Line Kjærsfeldt in the first round against Japanese Akane Yamaguchi, who are second seeded. Also, Line Christophersen face a seeded opponent in Pornpawee Chochuwong from Thailand.

Both Line Christophersen, Line Kjærsfeldt and Julie Dawall Jakobsen are in the same quarter of the draw.
