Untouchable Indonesians: Ahsan/Setiawan came out on topOctober 19, 2019 5:26
The only remaining Japanese men’s doubles Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda was trampled by Indonesians Mohammad Ashan/Hendra Setiawan late afternoon at DANISA DENMARK OPEN presented by VICTOR, losing with a final score of 19-21, 21-19,15-21.
At this point of time the two best men’s doubles are from Indonesia. It was proven yet another time Today. Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan won a quite close match against Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda
After the quarterfinals, they were asked how happy they were from a scale from one to ten. Yesterday, the answer was seven. Today, they had a different answer.
– Five, no eight, said the Indonesians laughing and elaborated on some of their semifinal gameplan:
– We just focused on our own strategy. We had to attack the opponent first, says Ahsan/Setiawan after the match.
It was extremely close right from the start and both doubles showed why they have entered the semifinals. Kamura/Sonoda held an initial lead at 16-14 after a strong run coming out of the break.
In spite of this, a well-playing Indonesian pair refused to let up, and managed to turn the game around and steal it with 21-19 after they had been behind 18-19.
The scenario did not change in the second game. It was also very close until the break. Afterwards, the Japanese were able to pull up a lead. Sonoda/Kamura were better than the Indonesians in the serve situation and, therefore, they fought their way back in the match. Sonoda/Kamura secured the second game by winning 21-19.
Opposite the two first games the decisive one was not as close. But many rallies in the third game were long and intense. However, despite of two unrelenting fighters on the other side of the net, the Indonesians managed to stay in control, and in the end, they won rather comfortably off many Japanese errors and can proceed to the finals tomorrow.
Ahsan/Setiawan’s victory means Sundays finals will be a national clash between countrymen Kevin Sukamuljo/Marcus Gideon. Earlier they won their semifinal against Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han in straight games. So at least one thing is for certain. We will get an Indonesian winner of the men’s doubles in DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2019 presented by VICTOR.
