Viktor Axelsen defeats Anders Antonsen in a remarkable victory

Audience cheering, a sold-out arena and fantastic play. The quarterfinal between Anders Antonsen and Viktor Axelsen had it all. At last Viktor Axelsen was the best and he won 24-22, 21-12.

It was sure a game to remember when Viktor Axelsen won the Danish clash against Anders Antonsen 24-22, 21-12 at the quarterfinals at DANISA DENMARK OPEN presented by VICTOR. No surprise, Viktor Axelsen coming back from injuries was ecstatic after the game.

– It feels absolutely incredible. Completely amazing atmosphere in there. It’s a pleasure to win on home soil and to win the game is just a bonus, Viktor Axelsen told.

The man from Odense was delighted with the way he won against his fellow compatriot.

– It doesn’t matter who I win against in a quarterfinal, merely that I manage to win. I’m extremely glad that I can compete on this level, Viktor Axelsen said.

The match was thrilling with high-end play and a lot of insane rallies. The world class badminton engaged the fans which made the atmosphere absolutely amazing in the arena. The Danish clash sure made the Odense arena come to a boiling point.

– This tournament means a lot to me. I have a number of family and friends at the seats that I like to joy. And I would like them to come back tomorrow and watch me play, Victor Axelsen told.

The match started tight. None of the Danish superstars would give their rival the lead. At 7-7 Anders Antonsen got in front and kept the focus. Therefore Anders Antonsen went to the break with the lead 11-8. Afterwards the players had a streak each. Anders Antonsen went from 11-9 to 16-9 before Viktor Axelsen came along with 7 points in a row going from 16-9 to 16-16. From their they followed to the extra points where Viktor Axelsen had the best nerves and won the first game 24-22.

As in first game the second game started close. The serve went back and forth up until 9-9. From there, Viktor Axelsen didn’t look back and took home the triumph, 24-22, 21-12.

In the previous round of DANISA DENMARK OPEN presented by VICTOR Viktor Axelsen defeated Khosit Phetradab 21-13, 21-15.

Tomorrow the seven seeded Dane will meet either Chen Long or Chou Tien Chen. They will play last match Friday night.
