Rasmus Kjær/Frederik Søgaard – He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang Yu: 15-21,5-21
It’s a second round exit this time around for Rasmus Kjær/Frederik Søgaard. After a terrific first round match, the Danes could not manage to follow that up in the second round against He Ji Ting/Ren Xiang.
The newly constructed chinese pair showed that they are to be taken seriously in this year’s VICTOR DENMARK OPEN. From the first serve Ting/Ren had control and initiative in the match, and even though Kjær/Søgaard gained momentum towards the end of the first game, the second game and the match was never in any doubt and the chinese pair advanced to the quarter finals.
Line Christophersen – Zhang Yi Man: 19-21,11-21.
Zhang Yi Man beat Line Christophersen in two games and advanced to quarterfinals.
Zhang Yi Man was in control for most of the match, and the result was never in doubt. Line Christophersen managed to fight back in the first game and shortened the chinese lead towards the end. In the second game Zhang Yi Man left nothing to chance and took advantage of every mistake from Christophersen. Zhang Yi Man won comfortably in two games.
Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje – Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin (8.seedet): 16-21,21-14,21-18.
Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje are ready for the quarterfinals after three close and exciting games.
Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Bøje beat the 8th seed Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin after one of Thursday’s most exciting matches. Jiang/Wei was in control for most of the first game, and seemed to have a clear gameplan. The Danish pair managed to shift momentum in the second game and had the initiative for most of the final two games with great play from both Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Bøje.
In the quarterfinal Ye Hong Wei/Lee Chia Hsin await Christiansen/Bøje.
Anders Antonsen – Loh Kean Yew:19-21,19-21.
Loh Kean Yew advanced through to the quarterfinal after two close and well played games.
In one of thursday’s highest anticipated matches, the two world class single players delivered great play in front of a packed Jyske Bank Arena in Odense. The former world champion Loh Kean Yew was on the front foot for most of the match, but Anders Antonsen managed time and time again to fight back and shorten the gap, it just was not enough and the second round is where Antonsen’s VICTOR DENMARK OPEN will come to an end this time around.
Viktor Axelsen – Lee Zii Jia: Lee Zii Jia wins by walkover.
We will have to wait for a rematch of the All England final from 2021. Viktor Axelsen was forced to withdraw due to an injury in his left foot. We wish Viktor a speedy recovery.
Lee Zii Jia will face Kenta Nishimoto in the quarterfinal.
Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup – Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel:20-22, 21-11,21-18.
Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup have qualified for yet another quarterfinal in a spectacular season after three intense games against Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel.
The german pair hit the ground running and delivered great play and even greater serves. The first game was intense and both pairs had stretches of control, but it ended up with german victory. The danish pair turned the match on it’s head in the second game and won convincingly with a ten point lead. The third and deciding game was as exciting as the first and both pairs delivered memorable play. The danes managed to pull through and avoid a second round exit.
In the quarterfinal Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup are set to play Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yin from Malaysia.
Rasmus Gemke – Lin Chun-Yi: 21-18,25-23.
Rasmus Gemke are through to the quarterfinal after two well played games against Lin Chun Yi.
Gemke hit the ground running in the first game and managed to close it despite great play from the taiwanese opponent. The second game was as close as it gets, but the well playing dane pulled through and defended well against great offensive badminton towards the end from Lin Chun-Yi.
In the quarterfinal Gemke will face Lee Cheuk Yie from Hong Kong.
